My style is to work collaboratively with you to clarify and explore what brings you into therapy. This will help us decide whether you want counselling - which would focus on a particular issue or difficulty, or psychotherapy which is more in-depth, longer term and relational in its focus.
My approach is to provide a safe, warm and confidential space in which to explore both your current difficulties and, where appropriate, how these may relate to unresolved past experiences.
During psychotherapy, exploring relationships, past and present, enables us to understand your experience of others and yourself, and identify recurring themes and patterns. Working together to explore and understand your unconscious processes and patterns in relationships lies at the heart of my style of psychotherapy.
